Everyone needs a powerful but safe degreaser for cleaning just about anything, anywhere. Detailers commonly use 3D’s Grand Blast degreaser for cleaning things like engine compartment and wheel wells but it’s incredibly versatile meaning there’s really nothing you can’t clean with 3D Grand Blast. This includes automotive, marine, shop, industrial and even home use.
One reason it’s a favorite among pro detailers besides how fast it works, but also just as important because it’s very safe.
Safe = won’t stain
If you’re wondering why pro detailers choose 3D Grand Blast for cleaning engine compartment because it’s safe that’s okay – let me explain. Inside an engine compartment you have a wide variety of coatings, material surfaces and components. These things all get an oily film build-up over time and a powerful degreaser like 3D Grand Blast cuts right through this grimy layer of sludge to make cleaning and restoring a factory new appearance fast and easy.
The SAFETY factor that is so important to pro detailers is that this product can do this but without the fear or risk of staining any of these different coatings, like paint, or materials, like plastic, rubber and even aluminum, or components, like fuse boxes, accessory wiring boxes, relays, horn housing, etc.
The last thing anyone wants to see after rinsing off a degreaser and after the engine compartment dries is the heart-sinking appearance of stains. And the main reason you don’t want to see any stains left by a degreaser is because if you can remove the stains it’s going to be time-consuming and require a lot of work, the scary thing is though – often times you can’t remove the stains. Now what?
If you’re a professional detailer and the degreaser you chose to use stains anything inside the engine compartment – you’re screwed. Even if you can undo the damage the time required means you’ll lose any potential profit from the job. And if you can’t remove the stains – it’s not going to be any fun explaining this type of problem to the customer.

The most important thing about any brand is the performance of their products and this means the stuff inside the can, jar or bottle. Don’t be fooled by fancy marketing and over hyped claims, go with a brand that is 100% made by the MANUFACTURER. Here at 3D, we make all our products, and we stand behind them too. IMPORTANT: Always work on a cool clean surface in the shade. 3D Grand Blast comes as a concentrated product. It MUST be properly diluted before use. Below are recommended dilution rations. If you have any questions or confusion as to the correct dilution for your cleaning needs, please call our customer care hotline and we will gladly help you determine the proper dilution strength and how to correctly create this dilution. It’s no problem, we stand behind our products and we stand in front of them – we’re here to make sure you’re successful.
How to read and understand dilution ratios
The simple explanation - When you see a ration expressed like this – 1:20 – this means 1 part product to 20 parts water for a total of 21 parts.
If the 1 in the ratio equals 1 ounces of product. The 20 in the ratio equals 20 ounces of water. After you have mixed the two liquids you will have 21 ounces of product. This means you’ll need a container, like a spray bottle or some other empty container that will hold at least 21 ounces.
The real world - In the real world, at least here in the United States of America, we tend to measure in ounces and gallons. Our most common spray bottle is a 32-ounce spray bottle. Because you’re going to want to mix and fill-up the entire bottle, not just mix up 21 ounces in a 32-ounce bottle, below is the amounts of concentrate in ounces to add to an empty 32-ounce bottle and then fill the rest of the bottle with clean water to create the correctly diluted mixture.
Proper dilution amounts in ounces for a 32-ounce bottle:
- 20:1 = Light Duty Cleaning – 32 ounces divided by 21 (20+1) = 1.52oz – Add 1.5 ounces to an empty 32-ounce bottle and then fill the rest of the bottle with water.
- 10:1 – Medium Duty Cleaning – 32 ounces divided by 11 (10+1) = 3 ounces – Add 3 ounces to an empty 32-ounce bottle and then fill the rest of the bottle with water.
- 4:1 – Heavy Duty Cleaning – 32 ounces divided by 5 (4+1) = 6.4 ounces – Add 6.4 ounces to an empty 32-ounce bottle and then fill the rest of the bottle with water.
Step 1: Spray the surface to be cleaned with the properly diluted mixture of 3D Grand Blast and allow to dwell and penetrate for 30 to 45 seconds. Do not let degreaser dry.
Step 2: Blast treated surface with a strong spray of water.
For stubborn grime or severely neglected surfaces, repeat the process and/or agitate with a brush
